Everyone needs a little Partay!

I'm new to blogging (translated: the majority of my readers are real-life friends and family) and in my path as a new runner, I've found a ton of support in reading others blogs about their life and challenges while hitting the trail.  The whole purpose of my blog is to offer that same support, and maybe just a little bit of comic reprieve, to anyone thinking about, or avoiding, running.  So this week I'm joining 5 Minutes for Mom's Ultimate Blog party.
If you're here for the first time, let me share a little about myself.  I'm a stay-at-home mother of two, whose previous employment was, well, taking care of kids.  Yup, I went from one career of child-care to another.  From the time I was eighteen, my daily life has involved sticky hugs and food covered clothes.  My exercise consisted of chasing toddlers around and nutrition....well imagine the diet your toddler will eat and then increase that to adult portions.  Not the best.  A lifetime of this and two pregnancies have gotten me to where I am today.
Earlier this year, I decided to make a change.  Thanks, in part, to the book Run Like a Mother  I have begun training for  a 5k and plan to work my way to the Top of Utah Marathon next fall.
So welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy the ride! (keep your eyes out for runner swag giveaways in the future, still in the works!)

P.S. My first 5k is a fundraiser,  feel free to help. More info here

  7. Hi Liz,
I too was a big girl. I have done two half marathons and hope to do my full this year. All I can say is that you can do it. It may not always be a bed of roses and somedays the little ones need you more than they want mommy running ...hence why I take mine with me...more resistance but at the end of the day your family will love you for you loving yourself.

  8. Good luck with your training! I'm a mom to 3 boys and I run as well - although I've been injured since early January. I'm just starting to come back, though, and hopefully can sneak in some small races this spring.

  9. Hi Liz, I'm stopping in from the UBP11. I think your marathon goal is awesome. I need to find the motivation to start jogging again. Last year I started and made it up to being able to jog 1.75 miles at one time, then winter came and I lost my motivation and it wasn't always easy to find the time to run when my husband worked late and the kids weren't on a schedule. I hope you reach your goal and can't wait to read about your progress.

  10. My mom is trying to make similar changes. She actually just got to go to the Biggest Loser Camp in St. George. She LOVED realizing that she can do a whole lot more than she ever thought. I'm going to forward your blog to her. I"m sure she'd find lots of inspiration in it. Thanks!
