Half-way through my run, there was a dilema. I walk/run with my eyes on the ground, due to my skill of tripping over the smallest crack in the sidewalk. So eyes focused on the pavement I happened to notice something coming up ahead. As I got closer, a cellphone materialized out of a red blob on the ground. Problem? My pace was at 14:07, a new one for me, and I really wanted to keep it up. I just know my phone has EVERYTHING in it, my appointments, my music, any number I need(I just don't memorize them anymore) and here someone had lost theirs. After a short debate (and seeing that I was just outside the city building) I picked it up, paused my runkeeper and went inside. It was really quick, the receptionist even knew who it belonged to, and I was out the door again. Now I was behind. Oh well, at least whoever it was wouldn't have to go buy a new phone. It was time to pick up the pace again and guess what, I was able to do it. I kept running for each of the remaining intervals and I even kept a good pace when I was walking. That has been such a struggle for me.
Covered in sweat, I finished the thirty minutes and was thrilled to find out I was back up to my "fast" pace of 14:27 And that's my goal for the race saturday, at least a 14:30 pace per mile. Really, anything under 45 minutes total I will be thrilled with.
*Update: I just checked my overall stats and this is a PR for me, my fastest pace yet!
