rAn expanse of dirt, a couple of shovels, and water. No place could be more fun for a little kid. Dig a hole, pour the water in, hours of fun and play for any child. And I was just lucky enough to have it next to my house. I remember the squishy mud between my toes, creating mud pie after mud pie.
Well, I've found a race that shares that same fun. Running a 5k is an adventure all by itself, but add in a few obstacles and lots and lots of mud and you get the Dirty Dash.

Doesn't this just look like so much fun? Three miles dirt and slime. I've been trying to find a good way to retire my old running shoes and I think this may be it. They have 10k races too. There are five of these beauties planned for this year:
The Dirty Dash Salt Lake City 5K - Saturday, June 4, 2011 - Waves begin at 9:00 A.M.
The Dirty Dash Seattle 10K - Saturday, July 9th, 2011 - Waves begin at 9:00 A.M.
The Dirty Dash Boise 10K - Saturday, August 27, 2011 - Waves begin at 9:00 A.M.
The Dirty Dash Salt Lake City 10K - Saturday, September 17, 2011 - Waves begin at 9:00 A.M.
Saturday, September 24, 2010 - Waves begin at 9:00 A.M.
I'm still trying to convince myself this will be fun, maybe if I have someone to go with me. Which, by the way, they have individual AND team races, maybe I will try to get one together. I guess we'll see!
Update: I just found the video from last year, I REALLY want to do this now! I can't imagine a crazier, more fun race!!!! (and yes, I use LOTS of exclamation points when I'm excited!!!!!!)
Brittany and Sam want to do this. Maybe next year the 5 of us (Jan and I) could all do it together. So much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that sounds like an awesome plan, I really want to do it.
